Dennis L. Martire’s Union Leadership Has Been Good for Membership
Over the course of at least three decades, Dennis L. Martire has shown great leadership on many successful LiUNA initiatives, including a process to allow the many workers on Fluor-Lane’s expansion of Route 495 Hot Lanes Project to express a choice as to whether to join a union. That turned out to be a very important initiative, since the workers voted overwhelmingly to unionize and to become members of LiUNA Local 11. That has often been cited as one of the most impressive union victories in the Virginia construction industry in many years.
Besides his capable management of LiUNA’s Mid-Atlantic Region, Dennis L. Martire also serves on a wide range of boards and committees in a variety of industries. Among the most prominent examples are his service as chairman of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Organizing Coalition (MAROC), as chairman of the American High-Speed Rail Alliance Advisory Board, including the Blue-Ribbon Commission on Maryland Transportation Funding, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA), and the Dulles Area Transportation Authority. An loyal and educated man, Dennis L. Martire still considers himself a proud member of LiUNA Local #1058 out of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
